Life is like a wave. Sometimes we ride like white horses on top of the wave. Sometimes, the wave drags us to the bottom of the ocean and yet some other time we are just floating in the calm sea. Nowadays, we are often told that we always need to ride on top of the wave in order to be happy. And yes, the thrill of this ride can definitely give you a good feeling. But it is only at the bottom of the sea where you will find the really interesting things. This is the home of the monstrosities of the deep sea with their ugly faces: Anxiety, despair, hopelessness, depression, blow of fate, illness, loss and many more. These monstrosities have many different shapes and shades. But, if we are brave enough to look them deep into their eyes, then we will discover the precious gifts that they have for us: inner growth, maturity, awareness, forgiveness, letting go, content, frugality, wisdom. Some waves just dip us into the water, others will drag us deep down to the bottom. But the deeper they take us and the longer we stay at the slimy bottom, the bigger the gifts are that we will receive.
I wrote the last blog post almost four years ago. I can hardly believe that so much time has passed, during which I had neither the inspiration nor the energy to create something. But there are times in life when outward action takes a back seat, and it becomes more important to focus on one’s inner self. These are times of retreat, which are just as important for us as winter is for nature, to make room for something new.
I sailed through turbulent waters during the last years and it was a pretty hard time. But I am grateful for this chance that I got in my life because I learned a lot and came out of this storm stronger than before. In between there were also quiet moments where I could ponder about alternatives and shuffle the cards.Since then, I am on a new journey and my suitcase is full of things that I had neglected during the last years: a bag full of new ideas, the liberty to go wherever I want, the excitement of a new beginning and the thrilling uncertainty of the future.
